Things to see.
Work and live in a city that is old and new China.
Zhang Zhou is a coastal city only an hour bus ride from Xiamen. The city has many restaurants such as steak houses, BBQ, pizza, KFC, Japanese, Korean and McDonald's as well as Wal Mart. The climate is tropical so autumn is nice, winter doesn't snow nor do puddles freeze, summer is hot and there is a wet season during spring. There is an old part of town which is a maze of old alleys that the locals still use for shops such as bicycles and fishing equipment. Fun to explore if you enjoy old parts of towns in China that haven't turned into tacky tourist parks. The town has a few pubs and even a disco but not just any but a super disco. There is a pool barn if you're not into dancing and there is even lots of old video arcades. Many restaurants to eat outside along the river and places to have a BBQ as well. There is a place nearby where you can bathe in the water from the hot springs. Also you can go white water rafting, flying and scuba diving.

Things to do in nearby places around Zhang Zhou.

Large earth buildings.
These buildings were mistaken as missile silos when the Americans were spying from satellites. In fact they're actually people's homes in this area of China, it is the only place where you can see these extraordinary buildings. The people built these homes to protect themselves from invaders.
Watch my video about these buildings.
