Turn your resume into a PDF file.
As I advertise for schools and I get a lot of emails applying, there is one thing I strongly suggest teachers to do. That is to make your resume a PDF file so that it can be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader. www.adobe.com/acrobat
The reason why is because when you use Microsoft Word this is an editing program so it will have a flashing cursor. What is not an ideal thing to present to an employer is lots of red and green lines all over your resume. As an Australian I write using British English but many Employers may use American English. Whenever I use the word labour for instance this will appear incorrect on the employers' computer with an ugly red line. Vice versa for those using American English, schools in China will favour either British or American English.

Another reason is all of your photos and degrees can be on a single file. Let's say you have a lot of certificates you want to show off to the employer, normally you would send them as a separate attachment in your email. Instead of having numerous attachments, just insert the scanned copy into your document. This make it easy to view by scrolling down and easy to store details. I hate having to open so many attachments and taking up so much space on email server.

Furthermore, some employers are not very internet savvy and when they browse an online resume they over look the links to your files. I was on the phone with a recruiter in China and I had to literally navigate his hand for him to click on the link to open my degree. Some teaching sites that do offer online resume submission require to login in order to see your information. Having a PDF file not just means a clean document but to make it simple for the employer just scroll down the page to see everything.

For those who use a Mac computer such as myself you can convert into a PDF file when you print there is a function "save as PDF." For those using Microsoft you will need to search for converting software online.
