FEAR.
When you were a child and you did something bad your first feeling was being afraid of your parents. The fear of being punished made you not do bad things and taught you from wrong and right. A child who does not receive punishment from their parents has bad behaviour problems and has no sense of right from wrong.
Fear of God.
Religion tells people that if they do bad things they will go to hell; many people won't do anything wrong because they believe they are watched by God all of the time.
Fear of going to jail.
Many people won't commit a crime because they are afraid of being sent to jail and only in a very desperate situation will people commit crime or if they think they can out smart the police.
Fear of another person.
If a person is much bigger than you then you are more likely to give that person more respect because of the fear of being hurt by this person.
Fear of society.
People don't like to be different from the majority of a society because of being outcast. If most people are not wearing shoes then the rest would choose not to wear shoes as well.
Fear of death.
People's biggest fear is death and people will do anything to stay alive, if people were given a choice to kill another person to save their own life they most likely kill the other person.
Free will is to do whatever you want to do when you feel like doing it and saying whatever you want to say. But if we did not fear anything from death, government and even other people how will this effect society? In your group give your opinion if fear is what makes us good people or only good people fear and bad people don't fear at all despite how severe the punishment is?
