Part A: 30 topics for students to prepare and give a short speech for a minute, use for testing their grammar and pronunciation.
Part B: 30 topics for students to answer without preparing, use for testing their comprehension and response.
Some teachers don't like using prepared work because it encourages reciting but when testing them on grammar or vocabulary it allows them to have a chance to practice
On the right is a link to a class project that has similar topics but different questions to part B. This can be used for the exam practice so students are familiar with the topics.
The purpose of this format is start a conversation rather than just answer questions, also to continue the discussion. So if they can create the introduction but can't continue the discussion then obviously they will get a low score.
This exam is set for students preparing a topic by making an introduction then they have to turn it into a discussion with you. Such as "I think smoking is the worst habit because it it effects other people and so many people can't quit etc etc etc." Then they have to ask you a question such as "do you get annoyed if someone lights up a ciggarette near you?"
